The Young Men Invade the Chambers House

The Young Men leaders (I think it was mainly Mike's idea) decided that it would be a lot of fun for the young men to have a Rock Band night. So all of the Young Men came over to play Rock Band. They had a great time and I think they will have great memories of the night. Tiffani and Courtney went to Young Womens to work on camp certifications and Kylie, Ashley and I went over to a friend's house and they went swimming. So it was a fun night for all.

Mike's Job and other Fun Stuff

Starting in April AMI is now ON. As for now the change of the company will not effect us. We are really glad that Mike's job is safe for a while.

Tornadoes: After living in Texas for almost four years now, we had our first real tornado warning with sirens going off. There were actually two times this happened. The first one happened on a Monday afternoon the girls had just gotten home from school that is (Ashley and Kylie) and I had just started teaching piano lessons. Now mind you it is raining pretty crazy and hail starts coming down next the sirens goes off. I get the kids in the closest and then go and look out the window wondering if we are really in danger and maybe I should be in the closet too. One of my student tells me he is wondering if they are safe in my closest with my shoes and hopes one doesn't hit him in the head. I call my piano students mom and she tells me that there has been a tornado sighted and to get in the closest, so we wait about 20 minutes later the sirens stop and we proceed with lessons. When I call Mike and ask him to look at the weather for me he tells me I will be okay and its not that big of deal. Later, we did find out that there really had been a tornado it never touched down but it was very close to us. As this is going on I am worried about Tiffani and Courtney, it was my friends day to pick them up hoping that they are okay. They where fine the schools hold the kids in the school till it is safe. The girls thought it was a little scary but exciting too.

The second tornado warning with the sirens going off was a week later on a Wednesday night more like a Thurs. morning around 4:00 a.m.. The rain was coming down and it was thundering like crazy. Mike gets up and is listening to his ham radio to hear all the stuff that is going on, Tiffani comes down and says she can't sleep the rain is keep her up, then Courtney wakes up, I tell them to leave me alone cause I am trying to sleep, about 10 minutes later the sirens go off and we are graping Ashley and Kylie, and the 72 hour kits and heading for the closet. This time it was very short and by 5:30 we were all back in bed. Although Ashley and Kylie just wanted to stay in my closet. Eventually they headed back up to their beds.

Courtney received an award from her teachers for "The Most Responsible Student". Courtney is a very responsible and hardworking student. She wants to do her best and puts forth her best work. I am so proud of her accomplishments and know that she can achieve anything that she puts her mind to. Courtney is a hard worker and is so full of life.

I don't know if any of you are Stephenie Meyer fans? Here in the Chambers house, us girls are huge fans. We just love Edward and Bella and can't wait to see what will happen. There was an opportunity to go to a Stephenie Meyer book signing of the "Host" her new book. (Which is very good if you are looking for a book to read.) Put on by Barnes and Nobles which was held at one of the High Schools. She would also sign any of her Twilight series books too. So all of our books have been signed by the author. The girls were excited to meet her but didn't want to wait in the line to have her sign the books. They wanted to leave after she was done talking to the everyone. I told them that I was staying and wanted to have her sign my books, but I guess if they wanted to leave they could. Because now Tiffani, has her real drivers license and doesn't need to have an Adult in the car with her anymore. What freedom. I think they were glad that they stayed and got to have Stephenie Meyer sign our books. Here are some pictures of that great day.

Waiting in Line

We made it, Stephenie Meyer signing our books.

The Baby Bird

As we are getting ready to go church Mike finds a baby bird that has fallen out of its nest, the nest is way to high to put the baby back in it. The girls are worried but we are running late as usually and really need to get to church. Meanwhile 4 hours later we arrive home and the baby bird is still a live and Mike being the great person he is wants to help the baby bird so he, Ashley, and Kylie start digging up worms and stuff to feed the baby bird. But the ground here is not so easy to work with and Ashley tells Mike that Walmart sells worms and thinks they need to go and get some. Well, we can't let the baby bird die can we. So off to get worms to feed the baby bird.

I was surprised that Ashley took such an interest in feeding the bird when she would get home from school she would cut up the worms and feed the bird. Getting her hand extremely dirty. My very clean little girl. After two nights and three days of feeding the baby bird, the girls wake-up to the baby bird being gone. They think the mother bird came and moved her baby so that it would be safe. We think that is a great ending to our baby bird story.

School Projects and a Play

One of Ashley's school projects this year was to do a Diorama on a Book she read. The book she read was, "Prilla and the Butterfly Lie". This was her diorama, she did most of the work herself. Tiffani and Madison helped her since I was studying for a test. This is the pillow Courtney made in Skills for Living. She has really enjoyed this class. She has learned to cook, sew, and take care of flour babies.
Kylie was a lion in the 1st grade play, something about a circus. She was giving one of the solo parts. She was happy that she had gotten a part but wanted the solo part that had more signing in it. She is our little performer. Also, I need to thank my good friend Allie for helping me get Kylie's costume together. I had two test that week and a paper to write, so Allie made Kylie's headpiece for me. She is the greatest friend and really saved me that week.
Kylie and her friends.

Easter and More Birthdays

Easter weekend the girls coloring eggs.

The girls with their Easter Baskets. Tiffani doesn't do Easter anymore.

Courtney turns 13. She is officially now a teenager. For her Birthday I checked her and her good friend Julia out of school, we went to lunch, we went and had our eyebrows done and then we came back and Julia and Courtney gave each other facials. Later we had cake and ice cream. We were planning a t-pee trip but it rained all weekend. Courtney is still waiting for me to take her.

Courtney and Julia with their mask on. Don't they look so beautiful?

Sister Gilcrest brought Courtney roses for her birthday too. She is one of the Young Women Leaders and really loves my girls. Both Tiffani and Courtney babysit for her. We all think Sister Gilcrest is the greatest and we are so glad that she is in Young Womens.

Mike and the girls went for a walk and took some fun pictures.

Ashley turns 10. Ashley, her friend Melissa, and I went and had a pedicure and manicure. We had a great time. The girls really liked the massaging chairs while getting a pedicure. Afterwards we came home and had cake and ice cream.

What beautiful toe nails and nails.

Done with School!!!!

I am back. Finished up with the semester and then took an express class for my computer requirement. Now I have started to enjoy my summer, one more week and the girls will be joining me in our summer vacation. I would like to catch you all up on what's been going on in the Chambers' house since my last blog date in March. (Wow I can't believe I went so long. ) Anyways I will start with where I left off:
Ashley: received a Commended Score on her TAKS test for 2007. ( they give them their medals the next year.) One for reading and the other for Math. I am so proud of her and all her hard work that she has been doing in school.

Tiffani: turns Sweet Sixteen!! Her friends and us threw her a surprise Birthday Party.
She was really surprised and I was worried that she was starting to catch on to us. It was really fun and she had a great time. Here are some pictures of that fun evening:

Coming home with Madison she was the decoy to get her out of the house.

Surprise!!! Her friends loved spraying her with silly string and throwing glitter on her, she was covered and so was my house. (they had fun, I guess that makes up for the mess.)

Playing games and opening presents.

Blowing out candles.

Tiffani's Young Women's Leader Sister Gilcrest gave her a dozen pink roses, they were so pretty.

That crazy Texas weather: We had a huge rainstorm that flooded the golf course just right by us. Here are some pictures of the golf course as it was getting flooded and pictures of it a few days later.

My darling daughters: Ashley and Kylie out with their Dad taking pictures of the golf course.
