Prom

Leading up to Prom there was much drama. I convinced Tiffani that she still needed to go and have fun even if some of her friends weren't going and were making her feel bad for going. She asked a guy that she had gone out with before if he would like to go with her. We thought the drama would be over with but it seemed to just keep growing. Those who had said they wouldn't go were now going and Tiffani was a little hurt that they made such a big deal about her going. In the end she had an okay time but is glad that THAT NIGHT IS OVER.

Even though the night wasn't all that she thought it would be she looked very pretty. I am so proud of her and all of her accomplishments and standing up for what she believes in.

Getting ready, she was mad at me for taking this picture, I need to work on my stealth skills.

Courtney Gets Inducted into the NHS

Last year Courtney was asked to be a part of the NHS but she didn't want to. I told her it was a good thing and she should be glad that she had great grades and was asked to be in it. Needless to say she didn't listen to her mother and passed on the idea.

This year, they didn't ask they just told her that she was being inducted into the the National Junior Honor Society. On March 10, 2009, Courtney was inducted into the National Jr. Honor Society.

Being sworn in: in the pledge it says that you will be a loyal member that you will give your time and energy toward the promotion of all school activities. That you will strive to be a model student. To uphold the purposes of the NHS by striving to maintain a high scholastic standing to have an untarnished character, to strive to be a good citizen of my school, community, state and country. To be a leader and to give freely in service to others.

School Projects!

I was wondering if anyone else wonders if school projects are really parent projects? Sometimes I think the projects are great and help our children learn, although some times I wonder if its just to see which parent can be smarter or out do the other parents. I just know that I am glad that Mike can help Tiffani with her projects as they would really frustrate me.

Kylie's project was to do research on a person that she had been assigned to, her person was Betsy Ross. On the day that it was due they had to dress up and present what information they had found on that person. We made a flag for Kylie to have as a prop for her presentation. It was a group effort as Ashley helped me sew some of it together.

For physics Tiffani had to create a Rube Goldberg. Here is the definition just in case you don't know what it is: a comically involved, complicated invention, laboriously contrived to perform a simple operation. One of those projects that are very time consuming.

It had to have a least 10 key elements to it and the longer it took the better your grade would be. One girl had ice melting, where the water would then trigger the next sequence, it still hadn't melted enough to work the first day. Tiffani was really excited that her's worked the first time through and it crushed the can the required measurement. She said a lot of people couldn't even get theirs to work.

Our trip to San Antonio

I have gotten a little behind, on February 13, Ashley had her TMEA concert. This is held in San Antonio. We made it a family vacation other then Tiffani, had a huge test on Friday and was unable to go with us. We were sad not to have her there with us.

In order for us to be on time for Ashley's choir performance we had to get up at 2:00 in the morning. We needed to be on the road by 3:30 to meet the choir at 10:00 in the Convention Center. We all tried to sleep on the way there, except for Mike who drove. Here we are at the Convention Center waiting for the rest of the group to get there.
The Concert:
This song is the, "The Dog ate My Homework." I love this song it is so fun.
This song is called, "Can You Hear".
This was another song that I really enjoyed it has drums and
you can tell the kids really like the song.
This is Ms. Ringel, (the blond) she is being honored for being picked to return to the TMEA conference. We think she is pretty awesome music teacher and we love that she teaches at Boals.

After we finished with the concert around 2:00 we decided to head to the hotel and get checked in. We were all a little tired from being up since 2:00 that morning. We decided to take a little siesta so that we would be refreshed for the evening fun.

Pretty much anywhere you go in San Antonio you have to pay to park so we decided that we are all healthy and that walking would be great exercise for us.

Our first stop was to go to Tower of the Americas. It took us about thirty minutes from our hotel to get there.

Tower of the Americas from a distance.
Some statue along the way that we took a picture of.
There were lots of little water exhibits along the way that we would stop and look at.

We made it to the Tower of the Americas, so we decided to go up and check it out. Your ticket included going up and down as much as you wanted and a 4-D movie about Texas.

Looking out over the city of San Antonio.

San Antonio
Kylie found this horse and was having fun playing on it.

Another water exhibit.

We left the Tower of the Americas as we were meeting some friends for dinner. We were unable to watch the movie as it was closed to a private party. So we decided that we would try and come back as your ticket is good for the whole day. What a deal.

To meet up with our friends we walked about half way back the way we had just come and then to go to the restaurant that they had heard was really good, took us back past our hotel on the other side of town. Pretty much we walked about an hour to get to the restaurant. Then the wait to get seated, we were told 30 minutes but it ended up being an hour wait. The food was good and we all enjoyed visting with one another.

Even though it was getting late the girls really wanted to go back to the Tower of the Americas so that they could see the 4-D movie. We walked back and this time we went along the Riverwalk. So sad that we didn't get any pictures. What a beautiful place.
We made it back to the Tower of the Americas in enough time to see the movie and take one more trip up the elevator to see San Antonio at night. The girls loved the movie as it was one of those that you feel like you are right there in it, you get sprayed with water, air blowen on you, your seat moves, I am sure you are getting the picture.

San Antonio at night.
Getting ready for a walk back to the hotel. We are starting to get a little tired about half way back my feet starting killing me and the girls were being such good sports and not even complaining about their feet. We had such a buzy day and a lot of fun.
We made it back to the hotel just after 12:00.

THE NEXT DAY!!!

Ashley and Kylie woke up at their normal time, so Mike took them down to breakfast as Courtney and I kept sleeping.
Here is Ashley and Kylie trying to be patient till Courtney and I get moving.
After we get all ready we decide to go and check out the Alamo. We were so lucky as there was a renactement of what happened at the Alamo. This only happens once a year. We enjoyed the renactement other then you couldn't hear very well and the girls and Mike thought there would be some shooting.

We enjoyed walking around the Alamo and reading all the history that happened there.

Thats it for our fun trip to San Antonio.
